Three killed instantly after vehicle hit poles and a concrete wall in Germiston

A devastating accident in Germiston, Ekurhuleni, claimed three lives and left two others critically injured in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to Ekurhuleni emergency services, paramedics were called to the intersection of Linton Jones and Brammer Street at around 03:09 am. They discovered a badly wrecked car with five occupants trapped inside.

Immediate Aftermath

Emergency teams confirmed that two men and one woman died at the scene. The two survivors, a man and a woman, were extricated from the vehicle and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Linton Jones Road was temporarily blocked by authorities while rescuers responded to the area.  The site has since been handed over to Ekurhuleni Metro Police for further investigation.

This latest tragedy follows another fatal crash in Zonkizizwe, Ekurhuleni, on Sunday night, where six people drowned after their car veered off the R550 and plunged into a river.

Spokesperson for Ekurhuleni Emergency Services, William Ntladi, confirmed that firefighters recovered six bodies after pulling the submerged vehicle from the water

Cause of Crash Still Unknown

At this stage, the exact causes of both crashes remain unclear. Ntladi said:

“When our rescue teams arrived, the car was floating upside down in the river. After it was retrieved, we discovered six deceased occupants. The accident’s cause is still a mystery.”

Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
