- Golden Arrows are scouting for a new striker to support Junior Dion.
- Dion has scored 3 goals in 5 matches since joining from AmaZulu.
- Coach Manqoba Mngqithi cautious about rushing new signings.
- Striker Lungelo “Mbesuma” Nguse recovering from injury.
- Transfer window closes on September 22.

Lamontville Golden Arrows are on the lookout for a proven striker to partner their in-form forward, Junior Dion from Ivory Coast, who has already hit the ground running in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
The Durban-based side recently suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhida Stadium but remain hopeful as Dion has netted three of the club’s five goals so far. Dion joined Abafana Bes’thende from AmaZulu at the start of the season and has quickly become a key figure in attack.
Concerns Over Squad Depth
While Dion’s form has been encouraging, fans have expressed concern that his absence through injury could leave the team vulnerable. Golden Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi acknowledged the need for another reliable striker but emphasized the importance of patience.
“It’s true that we are still looking at options up front, but we don’t want to rush into signing the wrong player,” said Mngqithi. “We also have Lungelo Nguse recovering from injury, and young talent like Thokozani Khumalo who I believe will grow into a sharp striker with time.”
Possible Options and Transfer Window Deadline
Other striking options in the squad include Jerome Karelse, formerly of Mamelodi Sundowns’ DStv Diski Challenge team, and Thokozani Khumalo, who arrived from Mkhambathi in the KZN ABC Motsepe League.
Free-agent attackers like Zakhele Lepasa, who recently left the Orlando Pirates, are still available on the transfer market.
Golden Arrows have until September 22, when the registration window closes, to strengthen their attack.
What’s Next for Arrows?
Following the international break on September 17, Golden Arrows will meet Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
