- Silva scores decisive goal on Chiefs debut against Golden Arrows.
- Nabi praises striker’s resilience and dedication.
- Amakhosi off to a strong Premiership start with four wins from five.

Durban, South Africa – Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has heaped praise on new signing Flavio Silva after the striker netted the winning goal in his debut match for Amakhosi.
Silva, 26, joined Chiefs this season from Indonesian side Persebaya and was under pressure after skepticism from fans before the Premiership kicked off. Coming off the bench, the Guinea-Bissau forward scored the decisive goal in Chiefs’ 1-0 victory over Lamontville Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
“From the moment Silva arrived, he received great support from both the coaching staff and the players. His work permit delays slowed his debut, but he used his first opportunity to impress, and scoring in his first game will boost his confidence,” said Nabi.
After receiving backlash online during preseason games in the Netherlands, Silva’s goal represents a positive turning point in his career. Social media users shared clips that raised doubts about his ability to flourish at the Chiefs.
Silva is one of several new additions brought in to strengthen the squad for the Caf Confederation Cup campaign. Other signings include Paseko Mako, Thabiso Monyane, Ethan Chislett, Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Nkanyiso Shinga.
Chiefs have started the season strongly, winning four of their first five Premiership games and drawing one.
They now share the lead with Sekhukhune United, who are in second position on the log, after 13 points.
“I’m impressed with how some of the new players have adapted, but building a team takes time. Players need to settle and adjust to our playing style. With patience and momentum, we will keep improving,” added Nabi.
