- Station says remarks were offensive and against its values.
- Managing Executive Dave Tiltmann confirms a breach of contract.
- Sol had previously committed in writing not to repeat such conduct.

Kaya FM has officially distanced itself from comments made by Sol Phenduka and his podcast co-host MacG, after the pair sparked backlash with remarks aimed at television personality Minnie Dlamini.
In a statement, the station condemned the remarks, describing them as “offensive, disrespectful, and not in line with the station’s values.”
Sol Phenduka Under Pressure
As one of the voices of Kaya FM’s leading breakfast show, Sol’s involvement in the controversy has not gone unnoticed. The station emphasized that the opinions expressed during the podcast are his personal views and not reflective of Kaya FM’s principles or the expectations of its audience.
Dave Tiltmann, the managing executive of Kaya FM, stated, “As a radio station, we cannot overlook behavior that undermines our values or damages our brand.”
Breach of Conduct Highlighted
Tiltmann further confirmed that the incident is a breach of Sol’s independent contract, despite a written commitment signed in June 2023 assuring management that such conduct would not happen again.
This has raised questions about possible disciplinary action against Phenduka, as Kaya FM continues to protect its reputation and assure listeners of its standards.
Minnie Dlamini Yet to Respond
Meanwhile, Minnie Dlamini has not publicly addressed the comments, but support continues to pour in for her from fans who have criticized the podcast hosts for being disparaging and unprofessional.
