MTN8 Final to Blend Football and Entertainment

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) and tournament sponsor MTN have confirmed that award-winning musicians Sjava and Mörda Bongz will headline the pre-match entertainment at the MTN8 final this Saturday at Mbombela Stadium.

Kick-off is at 6pm as defending champions Orlando Pirates take on Stellenbosch FC in what promises to be a thrilling cup final.

Pirates vs Stellies: A Fierce Rivalry

The final is a repeat of last year’s showdown in Durban, where the Buccaneers edged Stellenbosch 2-1 in controversial fashion at Moses Mabhida Stadium.

This year, Stellies will be out for revenge, while Pirates are determined to cement their dominance and retain their crown.

Fans Encouraged to Arrive Early

Stadium gates open at 2pm, and organisers are urging fans to arrive early to soak up the electric atmosphere. The pre-match show will deliver a world-class experience combining music, culture, and football fever.

Adding to the excitement, one lucky supporter will be crowned MTN8 Last Fan Standing during halftime – walking away with a cool R1 million.

MTN8: More Than Just Football

Robyn Lewis, General Manager: Brand and Sponsorship at MTN South Africa, emphasised that the MTN8 is about more than just the game:

“We are proud to bring fans an experience that showcases thrilling football action, blended with iconic local music and cultural expression.”

Lewis added that MTN’s support extends beyond the pitch, with charitable initiatives and community development programmes ensuring the tournament leaves a lasting legacy.

“The MTN8 has evolved from a competition to a distinctively South African custom that binds us all together due to the fervor and devotion of our supporters, Lewis remarked.
